[ COMMISSIONS / THE PROCESS ]

ACH

Good images begin long before the shutter.

I work closely with a small number of people each season. From the first conversation to the final sequence, every commission is built on a shared intention and room to look a little closer.

PHOTOGRAPHY / ART DIRECTION / MOTION

● ○ ○ ○

01

Listen

Every commission begins with a conversation. I want to understand your story, who it is for, and the feeling the images should leave behind.

WHAT WE LEAVE WITH

A shared brief, a clear scope, and an honest starting point.

● ● ○ ○

02

Shape

We gather references, find the right setting, and follow the light. I shape a visual direction that gives the work purpose without closing the door on discovery.

WHAT WE LEAVE WITH

A visual treatment, location notes, and a considered shoot plan.

● ● ● ○

03

Make

On set, I keep things calm and attentive. We work with the plan, then make space for the unexpected: a gesture, a passing shadow, a quieter way of seeing.

WHAT WE LEAVE WITH

An intentional body of photographs or moving images.

● ● ● ●

04

Refine

The story comes together in the edit. I select, sequence, and finish each image with a restrained hand, then prepare the work for the places it will live.

WHAT WE LEAVE WITH

A finished selection, carefully graded and ready for the agreed use.

RVICES

[ WHAT I CAN MAKE WITH YOU ]

A still frame. A visual language. A story in motion.

I make photographs and films for people who care about how their story is seen. Across each discipline, the intention stays the same: honest images, a clear point of view, and something that stays with you.

01

Sunlight enters a pale architectural interior through a skylight, casting a geometric patch of light on the wall.

Photography

Photography

Photographs with a sense of place. I work with independent publications, architects, and thoughtful brands to make images that feel observed rather than arranged.

EDITORIAL / ARCHITECTURE / STILL LIFE

02

A carefully arranged still life of pale ceramics, dark grapes and a pear on linen against a black backdrop.

Art direction

Art direction

A clear visual thread, from the first reference to the final edit. I shape the mood, casting, locations, and image language around the story you want to tell.

CONCEPT / VISUAL RESEARCH / IMAGE MAKING

03

A dancer in a pale dress moves through a pool of light, with blurred gestures against a dark background.

Moving image

Moving image

Short, atmospheric films that give a moment room to unfold. Made as standalone studies or alongside a photographic commission, with the same attention to light and rhythm.

SHORT FILMS / ARTIST PORTRAITS / CAMPAIGNS

[ THE PERSON BEHIND THE FRAME ]

Elias Vale

I’m Elias, a photographer and art director based in Copenhagen. My practice moves between coastal landscapes, quiet architecture, and the small traces we leave behind.

[ A WAY OF SEEING ] ↘

I PHOTOGRAPH THE THINGS THAT ASK US TO SLOW DOWN.

I began by walking the same stretch of coast with a camera, returning in different weather and at different hours. That habit still shapes the work: spend time, notice what changes, and leave room for something unexpected.

Let’s make

something

worth keeping.

A place, a person, an idea still taking shape. Tell me what you have in mind, and we’ll find a way to bring it into focus.

A few lines are enough to begin. I’ll reply personally within two working days.

[ NOTES FROM COLLABORATORS ]

In good

company.

The best images begin with trust. A few words from the people on the other side of the frame.

  • “Elias found the quiet moments we had walked past. The photographs gave our collection a feeling we could never have put into words.”

SOFIA LIND / ART DIRECTOR · ATELIER NORD

  • “From the first conversation to the final print, there was care in every decision. The work feels entirely like us, only seen more clearly.”

MARA HOLM / FOUNDER · FORMA HOUSE

  • “An instinct for light, and the patience to wait for it. Elias brought a rare sense of calm to a demanding story.”
